HALIFAX, N.S. — Tensions between renters and landlords have been at an all time high in Halifax in recent years. Some of these tensions have boiled over resulting in a court case over living conditions in one Halifax home. However, in an unprecedented twist, student renters are not the victims of this story.

The student tenants of 3435 Walnut Street were taken to court by other tenants of the same unit – the mice in the walls.

“It is just sick,” said one of the mice, choosing to be referred to only as Mr Little. “I don’t know what that Rattex shit is that they keep leaving on the ground, but they know I’m allergic to the ingredients.”

“That’s far from the only problem,” continued Mr Little. I asked them to make the path between the pantry and the wall more accessible, and what do they do? They block the entrance with steel wool. Worst of all though? One of them brought a cat into the house, and my good friend Charles E. Cheese was left in critical condition. The cat’s name was Sharty. Do you know how humiliating it is to be hospitalized by something named after a shart?”

The Mackerel reached out to a human tenant of the unit, who had only one brief statement:

“Yeah, the cat didn’t get rid of them, so we’ve got an exterminator coming in on Monday.”
