HALIFAX, NS—Dalhousie administration has added a security question to the widely used curriculum delivery service, Brightspace. In the name of school spirit, administration decided to make a question specific to Dalhousie—asking students and faculty to name any council member of the Dalhousie Student Union to gain access to the website.
“It’s been a complete disaster,” explained first-year biology professor Marcus Lowthan.
“Our class is large enough that we have made the decision to remain online for the remainder of the semester. Ever since this new security question has been added, none of the students, TAs, or myself have been able to access any of the course content.”
“We had a midterm scheduled for Thursday evening over Brightspace, and not a single student was able to attend,” he continued.
The DSU themselves have released a statement on behalf of the student body, claiming the new measure is “completely unfair”, and that it is entirely unreasonable to expect students to have any idea who is involved in their direct governing body.
Dalhousie has received the widespread criticism well, agreeing to keep the security feature, but changing the question. While a new one has not been chosen, it is speculated that “What day of the week is wing night?” could be a reasonable replacement.
“We messed up with the DSU question, I’ll be the first to admit it—but you’d be hard-pressed to find a Dalhousie student not tuned in to discounted booze,” stated the head of the Dalhousie IT department.
